Simon Harbrow is currently Executive Headteacher and CEO of South Essex Academy Trust. He has been a primary school headteacher for the last 16 years of three different primary schools. All schools under his leadership have improved outcomes for pupils and improved their OFSTED grades too.
His main focus recently has been to improve the outcomes at Westwood Academy taking it from the bottom 25% and in an OFSTED category to the top 10% and to a grade of Outstanding and for Parkwood Academy also in an OFSTED category to GOOD within two and a half years and the first time in the school’s history.
Recently he has supported another school specifically on leadership funded by the National College and in 2013/14 was seconded to Essex Local Education Authority to support vulnerable schools. Simon is also a trained OFSTED Lead Inspector and regularly leads inspections.
All of this invaluable experience provides a sound basis on which to develop South Essex Academy Trust.
He has also been a Governor at a local Primary school and feeder Secondary school, all adding to the experience, knowledge and skills necessary to lead a vibrant and high achieving Trust and share that success in partnership with other schools.
Firmly believing in developing individuals and enabling them to become more effective Simon is also committed to enabling school to school support. As Executive Headteacher his intention will be to support the substantive Headteacher in their role, assist in the development of staff across the schools and identify ways in which the Trust can facilitate, provide and develop school improvement. He is responsible for the day to day operation of the Trust and is accountable to the Directors.
